In this update, I have rewritten the approach to handling page names. This came out of a discussion about pagenames, where I ended up talking myself into finally overhauling this bit of code.

Why did I do this?
Finally, this means I'm handling page names in a robust way - letting me handle pretty much any character in a page name. Previously, the wiki had trouble handling page names with characters not usable in filenames (e.g. characters like / or : or *).

How was it handled before?
If the wiki spotted you trying to use these special characters, it would protect against errors by treating them as a space.

so if you had a link like this in your wiki text:
Code:
Someday / Maybe

it would be displayed without the slash: "Someday Maybe" and if you clicked on it, it would go to the page "Someday Maybe".

What will happen now?
The link will be displayed Someday / Maybe and will go to the page "Someday / Maybe".

While this is better behaviour, it does mean that when you click on the link for the first time after upgrading, it will take you to a new, blank page.

Your actual page ("Someday Maybe") is still there - but the link just doesn't point at it any more

What do you need to do?
Option 1: Change the link so that it points at your old page (e.g. remove the slash from the link)

Option 2: Jump to the old page using the Page Navigator and rename the page so that your links work (e.g. rename the page to "Someday / Maybe" so that the links point at it again)

I'm sorry for the inconvenience that this will cause people (myself included!), but I hope that the benefits of proper handling of pagenames makes up for it a bit!
