I've never read a word of Creative Screenwriting magazine (OK, I have visited the website a few times - some good content on there) but I started listening to the podcast last year and I'm pretty hooked.

Here's the podcast's blog, with all of the episodes linked.

Pretty simple concept: Jeff Goldsmith interviews some of the top writers in the biz, or there's a Q&A session with an audience with a scribe or two. I tend to only listen to the ones where I've already seen the film by screenwriter in question (this is a spoiler-heavy show), but that includes a pretty good percentage of the shows available.

Recent faves include:
Timothy J. Sexton (Children of Men)
Michael Arndt (Little Miss Sunshine), following up on an earlier chat
Jonathan Nolan (The Prestige)

Typically Jeff will go into the history of the script, whether it was original or an adaptation, how the production began and proceeded, and most interesting to me (because it's often not publicized), the vagaries of the arbitration process (determining which writers get credited, paid, etc.) You'll likely learn a lot even if you didn't care much for the movie (I thought Simon Kinberg and Zak Penn were pretty forthright about what went wrong on X-Men 3).

The latest Creative Screenwriting podcast has an interview with Diablo Cody and Jason Reitman, the writer and director of Juno:

Pretty interesting conversation.

This podcast can be pretty great, depending on the guests, but I find the host very grating. His questions can be well chosen and incisive, but his whole demeanour sets my teeth on edge. I have to dive for my ipod when I know the show is ending because I can't bear to hear his smugly satisfied voice say "and that's how the Q&A went down" (like it was some kind of bare-chested knife fight) EVERY F#@~ING TIME. Arrgh.

Oddly enough, I'd have to say that the Uwe Boll show was one of the very best podcasts I've ever listened too. Hugely entertaining.

And that's how the forum post went down...

Agree on the host. Most of his questions are pretty darn good, but the way he comes across is pretty embarrassing to listen to a lot of the time. I think he copies and pastes the boilerplate "that's how the Q&A went down... virtual tipjar... update blog" etc. at the end of every show, so I just hit stop when the interview session is over.
